Providing a ground-breaking
sports data company, a brand
with a competitive edge.
Competing in a crowded market, SkillCorner
needed to stand out and better reflect its cutting-edge
AI technology, whilst owning the way it visualised
the data it gathered from sports broadcasts.
The future of broadcast
tracking is here, bringing
with it a revolution in
sports data collection.
With Eddie May's great marketing mind,
Paul Tomlinson's web development genius
and Lewis Wright's creative drive we had
a team that could take SkillCorner further
than its competitors dare.
Our visual strategy was to
blend sport with innovation
and balance monolithic team
colours, with a futurist style
to a point where it bordered
looking like science fiction.
Whilst we wanted the identity to feel almost sci-fi,
we had to make sure it was grounded in reality,
so high quality photography of sport was
imperitive to creating balance.
We created an icon and
suite of logotypes using shapes
that blend the fluidity in sport
with straight and functional lines.
We wanted to create a style that referenced
the name, so the identity looked how it sounded.
Therefore, we created an 'S' icon made
of two soften angles, or 'corners'.
A wide, long extended font
with sci-fi flourishes combined
with a mid-condensed font
with conotations to sport.
To build on our visual strategy we paired
Zen Dots and Shentox to create font parity between
innovation and sport that helps the identity
communicate on multiple levels.
High quality data visualisation
templates were key to presenting
SkillCorner data in a way that
made it clear, concise and ownable.
To support in making SkillCorner data visualisations
we've created a more unique dark background version
along with a white background version for printing
The website brought
the component parts of the
identity together and begins
to show the balance of sport
and innovation.
The dark user-interface in particular helps
SkillCorner to feel innovative and progressive
whilst sport based imagery grounds the design
as not to feel too out there.
It was a challenge visualising
some digital products. Our solution
was to use relevant, physical
objects with a sci-fi edge.
Based on the way SkillCorner tracks players,
we created a visual device we name the 'Tracking Frame'
that's can be used as a holding device for images and text
and act as a border to frame icons, pages and slides.
Grandslam were a pleasure to work with
and were always happy to find a way of delivering
what was required, even in the face
of the occasional challenge.
